Happy belated birthday, charred-heart!

For one of my best friends on dA, (Charred) 

Oh man where do I start. This is my first full-blown artwork using Copic markers and doing blending correctly on a smooth piece of A4 cardstock!

I started sketching this on 7 October, but put it aside for a few days because of a class chalet gathering on the the 8th. On 9 October I plundered 7 shopping malls in 1 day (from Pasir Ris to Bedok on the east-west train line) to find the elusive PC version of Sonic Generations, a 3 year-old game Found it at Plaza Singapura, the last copy in stock too. Why did I do that? Well (Cats) tipped me off that Charred wanted it for her birthday, and since Cats was busy with her internship, I set out to find the game we could've simply bought a digital copy through Steam but we thought a physical disk with the box and manual would be nicer 8D

10 October was Charred's actual birthday, but since Cats wasn't free we decided to meet on the 12th instead. During that time I rushed through this artwork X'D I didn't sleep at all on 11 Oct just to finish this (and was 2 hours late for the meetup as a result lolol). Anyway, after splitting the money between Cats and I to cover the cost of Sonic Generations ($45!), we wrapped up the game in giftwrap and went to see Charred. We were like "oh hi um sorry for being late...uh...HERE OPEN THIS." Charred's reaction to the receiving the game and our drawings for her was priceless XD she kept squealing and hopping up and down amg I feel so satisfied that our efforts are recognized >w<

About this artwork...I drew all three of her Sonic fancharacters to compensate for the number of years I never made a birthday present for her (I wasn't familiar with her in 2012, was occupied with major exams in 2013, so this year I had to draw three characters mueheheh). Also, the cake here is based on the dA cake emoticon: I only wish I had more time to sit back and hold this in my hands and admire it before rushing off to catch the bus and train to give it to Charred uhuhuhu ;w;

Anyway HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CHARREDDD all the best in whatever you do!  Also, thanks for letting me try out your Copic Ciao 72A set and igniting my love for Copics  Now if you'll excuse me I'll just fall asleep here in my room that reeks of alcohol from the markers *lies down*

Medium: about 30 Copic Ciao markers, Staedtler pigment liner, Copic multi liner (brush tip for writing the Chinese names).
Time taken: Sketch - can't remember but it took forever, lineart - about 5 hours, colouring - 4 hours
